AIM Ad Remover is a patch for AOL Instant Messanger (Version 4.1.x and later) that will remove the ads permanently from the AIM program. This makes AIM faster since it does not need to show the ads or download new ones every 5 - 15 minutes. Also, it prevents accidental clicking of the ads, which opens up an annoying web browser. This patch only needs to be executed once, and it is extremely useful and simple to operate. New to this version are the ability to remove the tickers and the Instant Alert! forever as well. Instant Alert! is a new obnoxious feature available in version of AIM 4.4 and greater. The current features include:

What does the program do?
It removes the ads from the AIM program! This in effect makes AIM and the established internet connection run more smoothly. Without the need to download and display new ads, AIM becomes much more convenient and much less conglomerate greed based. It also removes the tickers and instant alerts! When you sign on to any screen name they will never come up as default. This eliminates the need to close them manually every time AIM is logged on.
Troubleshooting
If the ads return on reboot or AIM reload, simply remove the 'Start AIM with Windows' option from the AIM preferences menu. If you put AIM into your Windows Startup folder, it will still load with Windows and the ads will not show.
